Here is a guide to help get us started. I am wanting to train for a 10K and then a half-marathon by my next birthday in March 2014. I ran my first 5K on my 39th birthday, my first 10K on my 40th birthday, and now the trend is set. I just need a little push to make me commit. Anyone feel like joining me? We can train together here in Mapleton or keep each other accountable in the virtual world with Nike’s Running app. Either way, it would be great to train with a buddy! No, Alysia does NOT run. At least not lately. I am dying to get my normal routine back! My husband has been traveling for the past 3 1/2 weeks with short stops at home for one to two days. My whole routine is totally out of whack! I’m used to getting up at 5:20 am to run with my girlfriends, come home, have time to myself to read and ponder, and get showered and dressed before ever having to deal with little kids or someone else’s needs. That “me time” in the mornings keeps me sane, helps me be patient with the needs and demands of little people and gives me the grounding I need to be a good wife, mother and teacher to my 5 homeschooling children. Without it, life is kinda going bonkers at my house. I stay up late, I wake up groggy and unprepared for the day, and I am having to suspend all expectations of being productive just to keep from blowing my top. I NEED to run, to exercise, to visit with my girlfriends, to have personal time on a regular basis. Without it, I’m not so good at being me.
